Caythorpe to take part in the National Gardening Scheme
This week was National Gardening week. It was lovely to see the children out in the sunshine, tending our sensory garden.
However, we have been commissioned a further gardening challenge. Mr and Mrs Almond of Gorse Lane are running a scarecrow competition as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS). Tim and Carol will be opening their garden to visitors on Saturday 22nd May from 1 to 5 pm. Entrance is £4 per adult (children free) and the entrance proceeds will go to the NGS nursing charities. Refreshments of homemade teas will be available. Each entrance will be allocated a number so, each visitor can judge the scarecrows giving each one a score out of 10. The one that scores the most will win a prize to the value of £25.
Each class will be creating a scarecrow – but why should we have all the fun!
Families may enter a scarecrow too. There is no size limit or minimum size for the scarecrows, even a small scarecrow can scare those pesky crows!
Entries to school by Thursday 20th May.
